About Me
I am driven by creative tasks, whether it be drawing, painting, writing, photography, graphic designing in Photoshop, building things in Maya, or designing a website. People often comment to me on the juxtaposition of computer programming and visual arts, saying one is a left brain activity and the other is a right brain thing (I'm also a little bit of a jock; I like to challenge how people look at me and what they think is normal).
I think most non-programmers see programming and writing code as a boring, mundane chore like high schoolers see math or something, but to me it's much more than that. Of course math and programming have much in common, but it takes a great deal of creativity to code and to be able to visualize what all this text in front of you will come together to create in the end.
As a programmer, I like to be adventurous and dive right into a new language or a new subject - it's the best way to learn a new language, just like going abroad to study Spanish or Italian. I like problem solving and the challenges it poses. I'm very tenacious and often don't give up until I've solved the problem, and I admittedly pay a little too much attention to detail sometimes, but I see that as the sign of an artist at work! Programming, like art, demands self-motivation and setting high (even if somewhat unrealistic) goals for yourself that require you to work hard to attain them. I see myself as very self-motivated in school, art, and programming and believe that's why I work hard and am happy with my abilities and what I've accomplished.
